Carme Moreno, investigadora en Inteligencia Artificial de la Universidad de Stanford en Palo Alto (California), explains in La Vanguardia that once the first cases of Covid had emerged in the area of Santa Clara and other nearby counties “anticipation and prevention were essential for reducing contagion.” And although the de-escalation in Barcelona cannot be compared to that of Silicon Valley, she is very positive about the way the city “mobilized and rapidly created facilities” to make it possible to “take the pressure of hospitals and guaranteed the sick were taken care of.”
She also highlights the innovative and cosmopolitan character of Barcelona and affirms it is necessary to “promote international education and professional experience” in order to “connect digital and innovative technology professionals with international companies” and attract global investment, both from public and private sector companies.
