PortAventura, a trip to remember

It is Barcelona’s architecture, culture, and lifestyle that first come to mind when one thinks of the city, but just an hour away, PortAventura World has a whole host of exciting and unforgettable attractions to enjoy.

This impressive leisure complex has two theme parks, a water park, and a wide variety of attractions that have something for everyone.

Maybe you thought that PortAventura World was only PortAventura Park, the well-known theme park, but there is much, much more to be found at one of the biggest vacation destinations in Europe. Today we invite you to discover three things about PortAventura World that you may not have known:

  1. PortAventura World, beating records:

PortAventura Park opened in 1995, the first theme park to be opened in the country. It offers more than 70 attractions for all tastes, which can be found in the main park, in Ferrari Land, and Caribe Aquatic Park. Since 1995, PortAventura has continued to pioneer new attractions and shows, so the total surface area of tourist complex now totals over some 678 hectares.

Did you know that PortAventura holds several European records for its attractions? That’s right, on several occasions, the Shambhala ride has been the tallest attraction, at an impressive 76 meters, and has boasted the longest vertical drop, at 78 meters, and the highest speed, some 134 kilometers per hour. Ferrari Land now boasts the highest and fastest vertical accelerator on the continent, reaching 180 kilometers per hour in five seconds and standing 112 meters high. PortAventura World certainly does not skimp on thrills.

In order to offer new experiences and reach 5.2 million visitors throughout the year, PortAventura will be open for almost 300 days this year, the longest season in its history.

  1. Much more than just rides

In addition to the thrill of the attractions at PortAventura, one shouldn’t forget that the park also offers immersive experiences in imaginary worlds. The theme park features live shows and parades that will transport you to a whole host of different places and eras. One of the highlights of PortAventura World is its dedication to the world of cinema and it has been the setting for numerous films and commercials

There is a wide selection of restaurants that offer a wide range of Mediterranean cuisine and international dishes to suit all tastes, while its 6 themed hotels offers visitors the opportunity to extend their visits over several days.

If you are lucky enough to be able to visit the park at a special time of year like Halloween, Carnival, or Christmas, PortAventura World goes all out to provide you with a unique experience.

It should be noted that PortAventura World will launch a new immersive virtual reality area this September. Called PortAventura VRX by Zero Latency, it will be located next to the entrance to the park and will enable eight players equipped with a viewer, headset, and controller to play at the same time.

  1. PortAventura World, ecofriendly

Just a few days ago, PortAventura World took an important step forward with the inauguration of PortAventura Solar, the largest photovoltaic plant in a tourist complex in Spain. The aim of this new project is to ensure that the resort’s facilities and hotels make a positive impact on the environment by operating with renewable energy.

This is further proof of PortAventura’s long-standing commitment to sustainable development, responsible consumption, and continuous improvement.

It is clear that PortAventura World is much more than an amusement park; it is a place where fun, excitement and magic come together to create unforgettable experiences for everyone. Whether you are an adrenaline junky or just looking for fun for all the family, this destination has everything you need.
