“The political and economic conditions that made London the financial capital of the world were established 200 years ago," says Alejo Ortuño, who points out that the City ’s “business friendly” ecosystem is unique and would be very difficult to replicate in other countries. Ortuño says that London has an “outstanding capacity” to reinvent itself and has maintained its leadership even after Brexit.

Ortuño says that Barcelona needs to do a number of things to ensure Barcelona’s place as a benchmark for business, including providing a stable legal framework and more public-private collaboration. “The city must design a sustainable approach to business that is based on technological innovation, quality tourism, congresses, and cultural events,"
