Benito Miró serves as the Consul General of El Salvador in Barcelona. He also serves as Vice Dean of the Executive Committee of the Consular Corps of Barcelona. His responsibility is to strengthen institutional relations, support the Salvadoran community, and promote investment, cooperation, and opportunities between El Salvador and Spain. Throughout his professional career, he has been an entrepreneur, business executive, and leader in multinational companies. He also collaborates with educational and social NGOs and is a member of Barcelona Global.
Why did you choose Barcelona as your place of residence?
Barcelona is an extraordinary city, open to the world, with a remarkable capacity for international integration and a unique human and cultural richness. It perfectly combines innovation, tradition, creativity, and a global outlook. As a diplomat, Barcelona also represents a strategic point of connection between Europe, Latin America, and the Mediterranean.

Barcelona represents dialogue, modernity, and opportunity. It is a city that constantly inspires and where institutional, economic, and cultural relationships develop with remarkable ease. It also represents, for me, an exceptional platform for strengthening El Salvador’s international presence.
How can diplomacy contribute to an organization such as Barcelona Global?
It is a great honor for me to be part of Barcelona Global and to contribute, through diplomacy, to strengthening Barcelona’s international position as one of Europe’s leading global capitals. I would also like to express my special recognition to President Ramon Agenjo for his outstanding leadership and strategic vision, as well as to CEO Mercè Conesa and her exceptional team for the extraordinary work they do in promoting Barcelona on the global stage.
What would you like the world to know about El Salvador?
El Salvador is undergoing a remarkable period of transformation and international openness under the leadership of our President, Bukele. Today, it is a dynamic, modern, and safe country that is creating significant opportunities for investment, tourism, technology, and development. I would also like the world to discover the talent, hospitality, and entrepreneurial spirit of the Salvadoran people.
What do you value most about Barcelona?
I especially value Barcelona’s international character, its ability to attract talent, and its multicultural environment. Barcelona is home to one of the largest consular communities in the world, which reflects its remarkable global significance. It is a city where diplomacy, business, culture, and innovation coexist naturally.
