London regularly tops the global rankings for sports cities boosted by its rich sporting heritage, numerous events, extensive media coverage and vibrant cultural dynamism. The city also stands out in terms of the number of startups and investment in SporTech thanks to initiatives such as the London Sport Tech Hub and access to specialized private capital with a strong appetite for investment. By 2024, investment is estimated to reach €300 million.
Barcelona has unique assets to lead the sports sector at a global level. Initiatives such as the Barcelona Sports Hub, the Espai Barca or the Pavelló Blau should contribute to the growth of the start-up network, replicating the success of adjacent sectors such as science and technology. Investors with the potential to finance transformational projects are needed, as well as large companies that articulate the ecosystem, creating a link with the territory and sharing a long-term strategic vision with the city.
