The British Government will finance grants for research in Artificial Intelligence with £23 million and the public-private collaboration amounts to £63bn between an ecosystem of 1,300 companies. 'I think that investment in this area is essential to create a solid economy,' states Xavier. Training in critical thinking and problem solving and forming an ethical framework that allows us to avoid market manipulation or the creation of monopolies are some of the challenges we have to face as a society, he adds.

'Barcelona has a strong culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, which provides a supportive environment for new businesses.' However, the city has some pending chapters to not only retain talent but attract it from outside such as infrastructure, education, regulation and, above all, financing and investment.
