It is estimated that by 2050, half of the Amazon rainforest could irreversibly collapse due to economic pressure and climate change. This threatens vital functions such as CO2 absorption and biodiversity, endangering global survival.

However, the arrival of connectivity services offers opportunities for innovation, culture, and education in the region. The Amazon's diversity could be harnessed by the knowledge economy to preserve itself, and the bioeconomy to drive sustainable development.

Likewise, it also points out the similarity of Barcelona's ecological challenges to those of the Amazon, its innovations offer untapped learning potential, and international cooperation can accelerate their development.
