Smoothing out small 'frictions' can make a big difference for patients, by Victor Bultó

The US healthcare ecosystem is framed within 'a multitude of stakeholders constantly seeking to maximize their profits', a situation that generates points of 'friction' that subsequently affect 'the identification of timely diagnostics', identifies Victor Bultó, President of Innovative Medicines at Novartis.

In the case of Barcelona in particular, forces have been favourably focused on establishing public-private collaborations between different institutions, research centres and biopharmaceutical companies. These strategic alliances have allowed, according to Bultó, 'put the focus on the unmet needs of the health system and smooth out these friction points, which is necessary for the exchange of knowledge and the generation of positive social impact'.
