Miami has put itself in the limelight thanks to a good management of the new influx of temporary residents in the wake of the pandemic. ‘Low' taxes (compared to other states), good connectivity and an enviable climate have been some of the factors that have contributed to Miami becoming a 'notable centre of attraction'.
Barcelona itself has a similar potential. ‘Barcelona is known worldwide. Everyone has visited it at some time or is thinking of doing so [...]', says Rabassa. However, the city 'lacks more world-class sporting and cultural events, as well as improved connectivity through the airport'.
Therefore, the city must continue to attract talent through facilities such as improving 'bureaucracy, English and higher education', as well as 'boosting internal talent and preventing it from leaving and not returning'.
