Pau Guardans, candidate for the Presidency of Barcelona Global
This has been agreed by the Board of Directors, and has also submitted a new proposal for the Executive Commission
The Board of Directors of Barcelona Global has agreed to propose Pau Guardans i Cambó as a candidate to preside over the association. Guardans, until now vice president of the association and president of Único Hotels, will be submitted to vote at the General Assembly, which brings together all Barcelona Global members, on July 12th. Guardans will replace the current president, Gonzalo Rodés, after his two years in office, as established by the association’s statues.
This was informed by the current president in a letter sent yesterday to all the members, where he points out that in the last seven years Barcelona Global has become “the most transversal platform of Barcelona that represents the most dynamic and demanding civil society in the city, and that aims for Barcelona to consolidate itself as a global city”.
As the previous occasions –he explained- the proposal of the candidate has fallen to the vice president, to maintain “ a common thread” with the principles that inspired the association from the first day.
In addition, Rodés stressed that Guardans not only knows the association “to perfection”, but has led projects as relevant as the Tourism Summit, which have represented “a before and after” in mentality of the citizens.
In the same communication, Guardans has highlighted the work done by the Executive Commission so far, as well as the “disinterested commitment” shown in recent years and has presented, for the next two years, a proposal for a new Executive Commission with a new team of members “with a lot of talent, enthusiasm and commitment to Barcelona”.
The candidate considers that Barcelona Global is now the key, not only for the transformation of the city, but also to recover the pride of “being from Barcelona” and to enhance its local talent.
