Description
The aim of the project is to streamline the administrative procedures for new arrivals who wish to work in research centers, universities, and companies in Barcelona.
Objectives
Barcelona Global’s objective is to identify administrative obstacles and to propose alternatives. Barcelona Global also believes the city, like other leading European cities, should benefit from a well-designed, practical online platform with all the necessary information for those wishing to settle in the city.
Achievements
A proposal was presented to the Barcelona City Council and a channel has been opened to enable fluid communication with the administration.
As a result, the Barcelona City Council has launched two initiatives:
- Barcelona International Welcome: an online platform that provides a comprehensive range of information on city regulations and other administrative procedures
- Barcelona International Welcome Desk: a face-to-face and online office to help international talent with the administrative procedures for settling in the city
In addition, Barcelona Global has established channels of communication with Spanish government offices in Barcelona. Talks are being held on measures to streamline procedures for residence permits and work is ongoing to improve information available to research centers and companies for the processing of permits for EU nationals and those who may benefit from the Entrepreneurs Act (Law 14/2013).
