Description

Barcelona research centres are competing with top centres around the world, also by hiring some of the best researchers. To better attract this top talent to the city, there exists a crucial issue that needs addressing: to help find jobs for the partners of researchers. 

Barcelona Global, together with research centres in Barcelona has created the program Emparejados, a project that supports the work placement for partners of researchers that wants to live and work in Barcelona and are hired by Barcelona Global research centre members.

This project requires the active involvement of Barcelona Global members to help the researcher's partners in creating opportunities, networking, and employability for which a directory of mentors and talents will be created. In this way, Emparejados’ cost will be entirely bear by the association and the generosity of their volunteer members.

Goals

To our mission about attracting international talent, the purpose of Emparejados is to facilitate the search of employment for principal investigators' partners since their employment status is a key factor that influences researcher's final decision about accepting a job offer. This program will increase the offer that the city's research centres provide to attract international talent. In this way, research centres in Barcelona will be in a better position when competing with other world reference centres.
