Pau Guardans i Cambó, new President of Barcelona Global
Yesterday, The General Assembly put to a vote the candidacy for the presidency of the association, ratifying the proposal of the Board of Directors. Guardans follows Gonzalo Rodés, who has been in charge of the association for two years, as provided by the statues.
Thanks to the votes of all the members of Barcelona Global during the General Assembly –which took place yesterday evening at IESE Business School- Pau Guardans has been elected President of the association for the next two years.
The President’s goal is to promote Barcelona as one of the preferred cities, in all senses, and to promote a city full of talent and with the potential to continue growing, through public-private collaboration and urban planning. Guardans believes that Barcelona Global is now the key, not only for the transformation of the city, but to recover the pride of “being from Barcelona” and potential local talent. The projects are what make the city continue on foot, growing and improving tin the world of talent and innovation.
On the other hand, Gonzalo Rodés’ previous mandate has left a positive balance. In two years, the community of partners has grown in a very positive way: from 34 to 57 protective corporate partners, from 493 individuals members to 650, and finally, from 68 to 80 International Council, reaching the figure of more than 800 partners.
In addition, Barcelona Global has created a new corporate image that adapts tot the philosophy of the association; has a new digital platform that includes a web, and intranet and an app, to be more in touch with the members. He has also created the Individual Under 30category to incorporate younger profiles in the association, and finally, integrated Barcelona Urban Clusterinto the association.
Under the chairmanship of Rodés, we have launched new projects such as Emparejados, Policy Sector Action Plan, BEST,Barcelona Obertura, Agenda Barcelona and Benchmark fiscal. According to Rodés, the creation of the Barcelona Global Summits are a space to provide solutions on key aspects of economic development and international projection through Barcelona, based on the international best practices.
