On December 11th Barcelona Global celebrated the General Assembly in the Auditorium Cuatrecasas with the attendance of more than 250 members.
Emilio Cuatrecasas, Honorary President of Barcelona Global, welcomed the attendants and, afterward, the Chairman of Barcelona Global, Pau Guardans i Cambó, addressed a reflection underlining the importance of understanding the city of Barcelona in terms of the future. During the Assembly, the new reform of the statutes and the transformation of the Barcelona Global Management Board into a Supervisory Board were approved unanimously.
Furthermore, some of the most relevant projects of the association that are in progress were explained:
- International Council
- Barcelona MBA Day
- New Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technologies and Economic Analysis (UPC-UPF)
- Barcelona Global Challenge in Affordable Housing
- Barcelona in the Rankings
- Work in Barcelona
Moreover, Carlos Trenchs, Director of CaixaBank DayOne; Ignasi Vilajosana, CEO of Worldsensing; Mar Alarcón, Founder and CEO of SocialCar and Joan Margenat, COO & Co-founder of Marfeel explained the importance of the Barcelona Global Scale-Up Monitor. They underlined the need to reconsider the city of Barcelona so that the national talent stays and does not decide to go abroad, as well as the need to attract talent from all corners.
The Assembly was closed by Pau Guardans i Cambó, who highlighted the key points for understanding the city: the importance of urban planning, tourism management, culture as the main axis of the city, the improvement of public-private collaboration and, above all, strategic thinking.
After celebrating the General Assembly, the attendants enjoyed the lunch, during which they exchanged the Secret Santa Christmas gifts.
This event served to close and review this intense year and to mark the path of Barcelona Global for 2019!
